Miroslav Atanasov, better known as Mr. Morski, is a Bulgarian-born, London-based singer, guitarist, songwriter, composer and performer whose music brings together Balkan traditions, rock, blues, funk, reggae, Latin music and global grooves.
After establishing himself in London, Morski became involved in the city’s multicultural underground music scene, developing what has been described as a pioneering Balkan-rock fusion approach. His work has included collaborations with The Turbans, Gipsydelica and a wide range of musicians from London’s international music community.
His songwriting is strongly rooted in personal experience, travel, humour and storytelling, and demonstrate his ability to move between intimate songwriting, playful humour, social observation and infectious groove.
As the creative force behind the Morskiteers, Morski brings together four musicians from very different musical worlds: guitarist and producer Thibaut “Tibo” Remy, multi-instrumentalist Stephen “Bongo” Payne, and jazz/world-music drummer Alessandro “Bubu” Canini.
Together, they create a live sound built around groove, improvisation, humour, musicianship and cultural crossover — reflecting Morski’s long-standing approach to music: take the traditions you love, mix them freely, and make something of your own.
