We welcome, Los Cumbia Roots!
The band is bringing the legacy and origins of Cumbia from Colombia, the rural roots style from the Montes de Maria region of Colombia’s Caribbean north, remembering Andres Landero the king of Cumbia, Los corraleros de Majagual, Lisandro Meza among others Vallenato legends with the traditional voice and melodies of the accordion adapting the sound of this European instrument to the expressiveness of the indigenous flutes (gaitas) alongside the Caja/ Alegre drums next to the guiro and maracas and other percussion borrowed from African traditions. .
The band’s fantastic sound represents the finest expression of this type of cumbia a truly Caribbean art form joined on stage by a crack squad of the finest Latin musicians in the London scene playing heavyweight Colombian-Caribbean music full of traditional Sonido sabanero, the most popular rhythms including Porro, Tambora, chande and Cumbia now a well-known genre across the world and known for its signature rhythm and introducing us into the tropical sounds of Son, paseo, puya, merengue with a london twist and mashup of hip hop and modern rhythms.
