Join us for our musical journey of rhythms next 20 August and every third Thursday of the month at Casa del Ritmo showcasing some of the best emerging new Latin acts London offers for FREE.. We will introduce the fantastic music from Venezuela by Wil Sifontes & AfroAmerica project, bringing the original sounds and traditional instruments of this beautiful country with a mix of Afro-Venezuelan and Caribbean popular rhythms. The night is a Free Entry but also is in response to help our people of Venezuela after the earthquake. We will bring QR codes for donation to registered charities helping out from London. Your generosity can make a difference. Fuerza Venezuela!
Wil Sifontes & AfroAmerica project explore and reveal Venezuela’s rich legacy of African and Afro-Caribbean roots music. The tradition is great and takes on many forms. As such, with each beating of the Venezuelan drum there is a connection with the coast, the beach, the santería, their celebrations and dances.
Venezuela is known for its own tropical sounds and other imported styles, Some folkloric rhythms rely on the cuatro (small four string guitar) as their rhythmic and harmonic base. It is used in most genres of the different regions of Venezuela, Joropo llanera and Parranda to el sonido del tambor de la costa, Gaita to Calypso, merengue and others. The country produced the global superstars and also big part of this contribution is part of some of our musicians here in London, one of them is his musical director WILMER SIFONTES from Caracas Venezuela, one of London’s most accomplished, outstanding and prolific percussionists. He has established himself as one of the UK’s leading Latin musicians and has worked with some of the UK’s leading bands and world music artists.
Hosted by DJ Carlitos Nino (Arriba la Cumbia/Latinos in London) bringing a selection of Venezuelan classics, Salsa and tropical music from Caracas to Margarita Islands to London alongside a fusion of Latin and global beats.
