PERKELT
Formed in 2008, PerKelt is a unique and energetic contemporary folk band based in London, UK.
Inspired by medieval and Celtic music heritage from across Europe, PerKelt blends many different genres into the characteristic sound they call ‘speed folk’; their fast, complicated, yet powerful rhythms and Celtic melodies have become their trademark over the years; reminiscent of progressive folk pioneers Jethro Tull.
PerKelt blends together an unrivalled rhythmical synergy of drums and guitars, haunting vocals, the tribal sound of didgeridoo and fiery melodic duels between fiddle and recorder. Wrapped together in poetry and with a strong message of freedom and joy, PerKelt is a band firmly rooted in their skills and talent, yet elusively beyond physical limits…
The band draws their inspiration from a diverse range of musical traditions, with their songs often telling stories from magic, nature and folklore.
