World Music Method Presents: Foli Douman @ The Magic Garden
July 27 @ 7:30 pm - 11:30 pm

Foli Douman is an emerging international West African drumming and dance ensemble based in London. Our work brings together traditional rhythms and dance practices from Guinea, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, and Mali, combining live percussion, movement, and cultural storytelling in contemporary performance settings.
Foli Douman features Seydou Kienou, a young master musician, born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. He comes from a family of Griots and is one of the grandsons of the late Chief Griot of Burkina Faso, Baba KIENOU.
From a young age, he was immersed in music, playing African percussion instruments such as the djembe and doumdoum with his family’s ensembles during traditional ceremonies in Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire.
Through our performances, we seek to honour the origins of these traditions while celebrating artistic collaboration, cultural exchange, and the continuing legacy of African diasporic arts
Foli Douman, meaning ‘good music’ in Bambara, is an international West African Drum and Dance ensemble led by master percussionist Seydou Kienous – channeling ancestral rhythms from Guinea, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Mali.
